Natural materials

We work with natural fibres sourced locally and chosen for their suitability, availability, tradition and their role in form and function. Below you’ll find an overview of the materials we most commonly work with.

Bamboo

Typical origin: India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand — South & Southeast Asia

Common reed

Typical origin: Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan — Eastern Mediterranean / Central Asia

Doum palm

Typical origin: Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt — North Africa

Elephant grass

Typical origin: Ghana, Burkina Faso, Senegal — West Africa / Sahel
